Active Learning
The Play Class Active Learning Project was initiated in 2022 to revamp the Play Class’s curriculum with a focus on active learning pedagogical development. Active learning emphasizes the importance of students making connections between new and existing information, which enhances their ability to remember what they learn in the future.
Between 2022 and 2024, the project focused on redesigning the course for a traditional classroom setting. In 2025, the project transitioned to OISE's active learning classrooms, which facilitated greater instructional flexibility and improved student interactivity. This initiative was a collaboration between Dr. Stewart-Rose and Garrick Burron, with the active learning classrooms provided by the TEAL Group, led by Dr. Jim Slotta.
